Cold Laser

Cold laser therapy, also called low-level laser therapy, applies light at low intensity to an area of injury. It is called 'cold' because it does not heat the tissue — you should feel little or nothing during treatment.

It is used as one part of a treatment plan rather than on its own, generally alongside manual therapy and exercise, and sessions are short. Your therapist will tell you whether it is appropriate for your condition at your evaluation.

If you have questions about cold laser therapy or whether it is suitable for you, call the office and we will go through it with you.

What to Expect

Your visits, step by step

Decided at your evaluation

Your therapist will tell you whether cold laser is appropriate for your condition as part of the assessment. It is not applied by default.

A short application

The device is applied to the area for a short period. You should feel little or nothing — there is no heating sensation.

Alongside your other treatment

It sits within a session that also includes hands-on work and exercise, which are the parts of the plan doing the structural work.

Reviewed as you go

Whether it continues is decided against how you respond, in the same way as every other component of the plan.

No. It is used as one part of a treatment plan, generally alongside manual therapy and exercise.

Is it suitable for my condition?

Your therapist will tell you at your evaluation. If you have questions about cold laser therapy or whether it is suitable for you beforehand, call the office on (718) 714-6995 and we will go through it with you.
